Qantascope HexascopeHAEMA™

Qantascope HexascopeHAEMA™ automated scanner and image analyzer instrument

QantaScope HexascopeHAEMA™ automated scanner and image analyzer is designed to operate with iVV assay™ as a diagnostic tool in guided cancer therapy for patients who failed to respond to the conventional line of treatment. This new technology has been developed at Karolinska Institute in Sweden.

The system can also be adapted for clinical trials, targeting oncological diseases where patient preselection is a key feature to achieve success and clinical market penetration.

The system can also be used in early drug development for early functional screening of the different substances.

QantaScope HexascopeHaema™ automated scanner and image analyzer measures the survival of the patients’ tumor cells after a 3 days incubation procedure in the presence of thirty different drugs on a 384-well plate. Cell viability and cell number is measured after labeling the cells with VitalDye when living and dead cells staines differently.

During the scanning procedure, every cell is captured and analyzed for a number of image analytic parameters. The cells are counted using five different mathematical and statistical algorithms in triplicates to ensure the robustness of the analysis. Advanced statistical methods are employed to eliminate most of the common imaging and experimental artifacts and to minimize the effect of human errors. For example tumor cells which are presented in a single-cell suspension, but also generate clumps of variable size, can be measured with high accuracy.

The optical and analytical performance of the system can be conveniently tested using QantaScope Quality Control Bead kit - QantaBead (Product code: QS-QC-BEADS-04).
